SJC Airport Transportation to Morgan Hill: Compare Your Options

SJC is in San José, north of Morgan Hill. For a door-to-door trip, compare a rental car with a taxi or rideshare; public transit involves connections rather than a direct airport-to-Morgan Hill service.

VTA Route 60 connects the airport with Caltrain at Santa Clara Transit Center. The route does not connect directly to Morgan Hill, so if you plan to use trains, consider how the airport connection fits with your onward journey. Morgan Hill Station is about 41 minutes on foot or about 6 minutes by car from Budget Inn Morgan Hill.

Public transit from SJC starts with VTA Route 60, which links both terminals with Milpitas BART and Winchester stations. Route 60 also connects with Caltrain at Santa Clara Transit Center, but there is no direct Route 60 connection to Morgan Hill.

Route 60 connects Terminal A at Stop 7 and Terminal B at Stop 5 with those stations. The bus is free to ride in either direction from SJC, while fares apply to VTA Blue and Green light rail. Transit can work if your itinerary continues through one of these connections, but you’ll need to transfer onward to Morgan Hill.

Your choice depends on whether you want to drive yourself, take a direct ride or connect to transit. At SJC, taxis and app-based rideshares use designated terminal pickup areas, while a rental car gives you your own vehicle for the trip south.

Taxi

On-demand taxis queue at Terminal A, Stop 2, and Terminal B, Stop 1. Pre-arranged taxis pick up at Terminal A, Stop 3, and Terminal B, Stop 11.

SJC taxi charges are $15.00 for the first mile, plus $4.00 for each additional mile and $1.00 per minute of wait time. Taxi providers include American Cab, Bay Area Taxi, Checker Cab of Silicon Valley and Yellow Cab.

Taxis can carry passengers using folding wheelchairs at no additional charge. Wheelchair-accessible vans are also available at no additional charge, and advance notice is recommended.

App-based rideshare

Rideshares may drop passengers at the departures curbs of both terminals. Terminal A pickups are at Arrivals Curbside and Ground Transportation Island Stop 1 for Lyft, Tesla, Uber and Wingz, with Waymo at Stop 9.

Terminal B pickups span Stops 7–10, depending on the provider: Waymo uses Stop 7, Tesla and Uber use Stop 8, Uber also uses Stop 9, and Lyft and Wingz use Stop 10. Follow current terminal signs and the instructions in your rideshare app when you arrive.

Rental car

A rental car suits an itinerary that needs a vehicle beyond the airport-to-hotel drive. The Rental Car Center is across from Terminal B, with a shuttle connection for Terminal A and international arrivals. Agency hours vary, so confirm your pickup arrangements directly with the rental company.

Plan your pickup around the terminal and the type of ride you’ve booked. On-demand and pre-arranged taxis use different stops, and rideshare pickup points vary by terminal and provider. Drivers who need extra curbside loading or unloading time because of a disability should notify uniformed Airport traffic staff. Vehicles must not be left unattended at the curb.

Scheduled buses and charter buses have separate pickup stops: at Terminal A, scheduled buses use Ground Transportation Center Stop 4; at Terminal B, scheduled buses use Stop 12 and charter buses use Stop 11. Groome Transportation serves destinations in the Monterey Bay Area, including Carmel, Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, Marina and Seaside, but not Morgan Hill.
